Sounds like vibrators or something.

Is it a sex toy?
Are the batteries rechargeable?
Does this mystery contain some kind of crazy metaphor?

Noes.

Sometimes.

I suppose that's one "good" thing about my degree (aero engineering), there aren't too many terms/words/etc that have "alternative" meanings.
What, like cockpits, turboshafts, thrust, nozzles, corkscrews, ram drag, payload, flaps, and wind tunnels?

Do they run on batteries, or do you want to bring the batteries with you when you use it?

Can you wear this item?

No.

No. At least, it's not intended. You could wear it in a silly/awkward way.

Would you put this item on display?

Each one has a hole in it, is that hole used for something?

No.

Quoted :: TheAbdBoy

Sometimes. If it's convenient to keep them handy, then people who look around are gonna know they're there. Does that count?

Yes.

Do you put objects into the hole?
When you say the batteries last over half-an-hour per go, do you mean several hours per go?

Fail. You're only allowed to ask questions which fit a yes/no answer.

Quoted :: TheAbdBoy

Do you put objects into the hole?

Kind of/partially.

Quoted :: TheAbdBoy

When you say the batteries last over half-an-hour per go

I didn't say that. I said the item which is the answer to the mystery lasts over half an hour per go. How long the batteries last is irrelevant, because you can just swap them if they run out.

Quoted :: TheAbdBoy

do you mean several hours per go?

No (the item which is the answer to the mystery does not last several hours per go).

Does soft mean physically soft (as in when you feel it, it's soft)?

Does the object have to last over half an hour per go? That is, can you turn it off before half an hour?

Does it require electricity to work?

I'm thinking it's an alarm clock, but that doesn't seem right. Though your riddles tend to be very sneaky. Also a piggy bank may fit the description.

Indirectly.

They're not alarm clocks nor piggy banks.
