If you want to put that in words: Nodes are the sections on a standing wave where complete destructive interference occurs. Similarly, anti-nodes are the sections on a standing wave where maximum amplitude occurs, thus why there have to be less anti-nodes than nodes (anti-nodes can only occur between two nodes).
