yeah the PS3 is a joke. $600 for the system and you don't even get something as good as the 360. all the stats on the PS3 are higher than tha Xbox except where it matters. look at the texture memory. the PS3 has 256. the games look like ass despite all the mega crap the system has in it. the heatsink is entirely too small for the processor, and as such the system overheats every 30-40 minutes and locks up. I saw this in action myself and the BestBuy employees said it happens every time. the sixaxis is also apparently overly-sensitive. I watched a guy in the Wii line with me playing a motocross racing game on the PS3 and every new race he started off trying his damnedest NOT to go to either one absolute direction or the other. he kept spinning in circles, basically, until after about 30 seconds or so he finally got the controller to behave and let him go in a straight line for a little while.

so basically you're paying twice as much for a gimped XBox 360 with very little incentive. everything that's been done or attempted on the PS3 has failed and it's only been out for 3 days. there are NO redeeming qualities for the system and there's absolutely no reason to buy it at all. the PS3 serves no purpose right now except as a hole to shovel your money into.

HAH! I guess that some people got some nice deals out of it. By now we all know that the ps3 starting price is $400+, but some kid got it from ebay by being the only bidder...

it has probably all been said already, but since im new here, i cant really be bothered to read it all.

I don't think anyone disputes the PS3s use as a media player. that much is obvious to anyone. the thing is, for that much money better media players are available.

and the PS3 does NOT play HD DVDs, that was the point of them making the thing, to detract from the sale of HD DVDs so that their Bluray format would win the war.

and even if it did (which you wouldn't know as you're in britain, which the PS3 isn't even released in yet) it's still useless to own a bluray or HD DVD player at this point because the players for those things are completely impractically expensive right now compared to DVD players that are only $100. sure, the HD DVD is better quality, but the difference isn't nearly worth $500 unless you're bill gates' kid and simply must have the newest tech toys no matter what.

for all i know, the prices might be different over there for all the media players that run along the media of the PS3

but personally i still think you are getting your moneys worth.

im not exactly rich, infact, im very short on money, but when it comes out over here, im still gonna buy it if/when i can.

oh, and in my personal opinion, it is actually more of a media player than a gaming console

and i like my movies and stuff, so of cause, i am gonna approve of it more than other consoles out.

i was just saying what i was thinking in my mind, and seeing if anyone agreed with me, but yeah. . .is it just because im British i think like that, i dont know.

well, why not just get a media player that plays MP3s CDs and DVDs? it'd be much more practical now than buying a bluray player that plays a format that isn't even for sure going to be the next big thing. plus it's much cheaper and easier to do that than to pay that much for a media player. if you need a gaming console, get a 360 and a media player and save yourself some money.

but i think Blu-Ray is going to go big, i dont know why, but i have a feeling its gonna be a good business.

but i have had enough of arguing, ive been here, 3 days now i think, and all ive done is argue, so im gonna shut up about whats better, and whats not (for now ;D)

I think Xbox 360's are good, and the PS3 looks ok, but you dont need a HD TV you need a smart board
