I use IE as it tends to me a bit more forgiving with HTML. But i have used Firefox, netcape (now merged with mozilla).

Firefox is by far much better then other browsers. I have never needed built in png support, as I dont use them in web sites. Jay-pegs have a better compression so i use those.

You may not use them in websites, but other people might well want to. The problem is that they can't, because people with IE don't see them right.

IE also suports a feew tags that firefox does not. Such as "bgsound". Netscape can use the "multicol" tag where as IE does not.

If it were valid html I'd say yay for IE, but they seem content with making up their own tags that won't be supported by other browsers as they don't comply with w3c specifications.. :s Being forgiving with html isn't really a good thing, it's the reason btp is so badly coded.. heh.

(note: I haven't actually checked bgsound isn't a valid tag, but there is other stuff like that)

Due to the security holes within Internet Explorer, I have blocked Internet Explorer from acsesing the internet in my firewall.
I have also removed any Internet shortcuts from the start menu, desktop and the quick launch. So then guests don't click on them.

My dad asked me why betty(main computer) has so much spyware on it. I told him that it was because he uses Internet Explorer. I made him switch to firefox. :)

o i agree completely Zog.

Non valid HTML is something i dont use like the "bgsound" tag. And i accually made the switch to firefox this morning.

The fact that IE supports "extra" tags doesn't really do anything for me as there use is limited to IE only. My pages / sites are coded for every browser including Opera.

If i must use music that loops infinatly, something only IE can do, I'll embed the sound in a flash movie and make use of the "object" and "embed" tags. This also alows me to use Wav files at a better compression as Using "embed" with just a wav will take forever for a dial up user to download.

Sites with bgsound usually have very crappy music.. It be better if you put like a WMP thing to the lower side so they can mute or lower the volume
But I havent seen any sites with that since mozilla/firefox came around

thats because mozilla and firefox do not support the bgsound tag. Its an IE extetion only.

As i said, i would make a small flash movie with the sound looping, a play and stop button to control the sound.

That would be great. Then I could adBlock it(A fire fox extension). :)

^^ thats also why there is a stop button on the dang thing if an when i feel the nmeed to go through that.

Some stuff like that can be anoyiong, where some sites force you to listen to annoying music and what not. I would always give the option to turn off the music.

Also blocking flash content would make it impossable to navigate my site as the navi bar is in flash

nah, adblock lets you block individual flash objects as you wish :) There are heeps of other Firefox extensions too, thats what makes it so much better than ie.

shouldn't the poll read Firefox (Ff) instead of (Fx)?

Fx looks better than Ff.
Ff could mean anything!

Oh, I've always been using FFox.

Anyways, use this. http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1299854/posts. It speeds up FireFox by alot. (Nothing needs to be downloaded or installed. It's just text)

Those tweaks work for a lot of people, but read this first: http://weblogs.mozillazine.org/asa/archives/007164.html
