if you don't want firefox, you can get mozilla
it's much newer than netscape, and 7.1 is realy old.
mozilla is much faster loading and generally better,
i would like to thank tH for enlightening me with mozilla

bloopy, why so tense about switching to firefox? people can be annoying in suggesting to (over and over), but they can be just as easily annoying doing other things. dunno where i'm going with that. anyway, i think you should at list give it a try, even if you're not going to switch to it. i've had no problems with it that can't be fixed.
It's not that I hadn't tried it, I use it at university quite a bit. I'm just lazy and prefer doing nothing over downloading and installing. Anyway now I am using Firefox, though I still have no preference for any particular browser, except that if I have Netscape open it checks my emails every 10 minutes. I'm sure I will find some delightful Firefox plugins though.

I just got about 15 extensions*, because i upgraded to the 1.0 pre-release thing. The best by far is FoxyTunes, it lets you control winamp/itunes or whatever from firefox
what is everyone else using?

Speaking of this, i noticed FF had a "Read mail (# new)" entry in the Tools menu. The number of new mails changes, but when i click it opens outlook (hum, sure, it's my default mail client), but the number of mails isn't good according to outlook/hotmail/gmail, and i didn't enter any login/pass info so... what's this stuff ?

Thats Windows XP's fault - Fx gets the # of mails from a registry key that Windows records (usually pertaining to Hotmail / Outlook) - but it has a tendency to be always wrong.
I believe the official strategy is going to be remove the # new for 1.0, then add it back when they find a more reliable way.

That WinXP registry thing for me tells me how many new hotmail messages but when I click 'Read Mail' in Firefox it opens my default email program, Netscape Mail! I wonder if I could get Firefox to check Netscape Mail, or get Netscape to set the registry.

using IE at the college ( we are forced )
and so i can give my view on the symbol after seeing it on each page.
It feels as though im using a trial version of BTP, and to get the full version without "adds" i have to use firefox, lol. Its not too annoying, after all it does fade out.
BUT perhaps it would be better if it was made slightly smaller?
I do wonder wether or not such a large annoying ( in a good way ) would perhaps encourage some users not to come back, before even seeing that the symbol isnt there permanently.
In the end, its similar to the adds on yahoo geocities sites.

now you say it like that I think I tend to agree, it should at least be made smaller and maybe removed, it's been there a while, I think the point has been made...
