yeh, nothing to stop anyone that's providing a free mail service from reading your email.

I just looked at google-watch (for the second time in my life) and the arguments are just as bad as they were before (from what I read). The google cookie thing is pretty stupid, because we don't all go and make a bookmark of the page it gives us after the preferences are set, which is the point of the cookie. Means we don't have to do that...

I delete all my emails except for subcriptions as soon as i read them. This is a habit i got ages ago after using one site i won't name here. Google can make statistics of how much subription emails i have as much as they want.

Besides, if Google won't add some important features to GMail in the final version, such as redirection, advanced spam controls, proper delete buttons, etc., i'll just delete my GMail account and get back to Mail.ru, which is the biggest russian search engine and the most comfortable and secure mail server in the world.....

Why does anyone actually need the extra stuff google offers anyway?? My hotmail accounts good enough i just fancied a gmail account for any insocial stuff i do online.

Have you used it at all? Whats the point of redirection - if u wont wanna use this email then DONT USE IT.

Advandced spam controls? what planet are you on? they're built in already. and very good. So far in about 2 months i've got one peice of spam which i marked as spam for google to add to ti's spam filtering engine.

And it does have a proper delete button - dont read the hype, use the program.

You get more space. And I like saving all my emails. So gmail is good for me.

1. I have my own reasons to need redirection
2. I meant advanced controls for the spam filters, not advanced spam filtering. There might be some already there, i might have missed 'em. And i get around 30 pieces of spammy shit every day
3. All i see that you can't delete an email instantly, like in all other services - you have to first move it to the Trash, then find it there, check the box and only then you can delete it. That sucks when you are used to deleting your letters right after you read them.

Who cares! You have 1gb of space. Why delete you emails? Just put them in the trash can.

On the other hand loading a message pretty fast. I have a dial up connection runnin at 26kb and gmail works faster than any othe page.

I'm pretty sure you can make the filters mark things as spam, if that's what you mean.

what programs let you instantly delete mail? every email proggy ive' used send to trash can first - altho some do actually empty it automatically.

My dad actually uses outlook express's deleted items folder for storage.
