There should be a lock symbol where the star would be next to the thread. Instead of saying "Warning: The last post on this thread is at least 20 days ago! Posting on this thread could seriously damage your reputation i.e. Only post on this thread if it is relevant and you don't think people will be unhappy with you posting here." It would be easier to see that lock symbol then to enter a thread and scroll all the way down just to see that message.

There's a difference between locked and old threads.

One has been closed due to spam or breaking of forum rules (although in that case it'd be deleted i guess) and the other no-one has felt the need to post on.

Although yes, a 20 day old icon where teh star should go would be useful.

Yeah the old thread icon would be good. And the locked icon is a red L beside the thread.

So for Old Thread, there would be an O symbol over the star? A stupid idea to add on to that. If a user revives an old thread, it automatically drops that person's user rating by 1 point. Told you it was stupid...

Yes, but most revive threads because they have something to say about the discussion and not just for the hell of it. I don't mind people reviving threads so long as what they have to say is good. I also don't mind double posting for the same reason. If there is a thread about a website and say person A last posted in it 6 months ago and they now want to say something related for example a similar website which would appeal to those who had replied in that thread, I wouldn't mind that. Afterall if they're going to say it, it's better to revive the old thread than to start a new one. What I don't like though is if people revive threads for a spammy post like 'lol that's a good website' when, if that thread hadn't been there they would not have posted a new thread. Anyone still with me? I think I lost myself:P...

I got you. Then modify the idea a bit. When old threads are revived, it gets PM'd to the admin's box. Then the admin can decide what action to take from there.

That would mean that there would be an "L" beside every thread almost.

Another Suggestion: In the FAQs section tell people what the "L" means.

When you post in an old thread, maybe there could be a confirm box (Like this) when you press the 'submit post' button?
