Not a joke unfortunately, having just re-installed W:A, i need some help getting connected to wormnet.
The problem is this: my university have decided that blocking outgoing connections on port 6667 is a good idea, its a msytery as to why - but i greatly doubt there's anything i can do to get them to change this.

So, with this in mind, anyone got any ideas how i might be able to connect to wormnet and get some W:A going on?

Yes
But WA has it's own built in IRC... wasn't there some alternate port? I forgot D:

 - 7.6 Port information for network connection via firewalls
To ensure successful usage your machine requires outgoing connections on TCP ports 80 and 6667, as well as on TCP ports 17010, 17011 and 17012. If you want to be able to host a game you will have to redirect incoming packets on the TCP ports to your machine.

Yes, i knew that - but there is no way for me to create an outgoing connection on port 6667 from this computer, hence me turning to the brain trust thats is BTP.

i have the same problem here 6667 is blocked because a very ancient kind of filesharing can be done by irc bots...

well wasnt there something like wormnat that could help?

as it's a single server is there a box or something you can set up an ssh tunnel to? Could probably alter it to connect to localhost instead of wormnet and tunnel out. hosts file might help with that..

You could use something like HTTP-Tunnel, although that restricts the speed to 1.5KB/s unless you pay for it. Also, I don't think you can filter it... it would be better if you could tunnel port 6667 but not 17011.
17010 and 17012 are a lie. Except, the latest update lets people host on any port.

Just don't do what Des did... his IP address was visible on IRC or his proxy advertised itself or something, and he got bombarded with lots of attempted connections, mostly from China. ________________
