This may be possibly old news to some, but this intrigued me.
Details< br />
It's a bit bigger than the Ipod, but it doesn't bug me, considering it's 20x bigger than the Ipod. Not to mention, it's cheaper, and I bet it has a better layout too. Also, you don't need to dl a million programs, you have everything you already need.

Microsoft sucks wang. Apple also sucks wang. iPod is shit. iRiver isn't as shit.
I'd go with iRiver, otherwise I'd stay with sony and their new little iPod thingy.

PSP sucks with music. $300 CAD for a PSP. $200 CAD for a 2 GB Memory Stick. Might as well get an Xbox 360 for $500 CAD instead (oh, you also need that lame hard drive for it too, so it's about $650 CAD for a Xbox 360).
2 GB of music isn't alot. So PSP sucks wang.

I have an iRiver H340, it's great.
Sony do evil things with copy protection. If you want any form of freedom with what you do with your music on your MP3 player, don't get a sony.

I can just say that you buy the name Sony, Apple or Microsoft if you choose one of their players.
Because of that i got my self a little MP3-Stick with 1GB Memory.
1GB is enough for the music iam listening to and if i want to hear someting different i just have to refill it with different songs.
But 1GB is so much space that i could get different music styles on it.
I think there is no need to take my whole Music around with me.
And every thing that works with a HDD is very easy to break, HDD-crash ahoy.

I have a creative zen touch... Got it pretty cheap on eBay. Creative is generally cheaper than an iPod and supports more music formats, doesn't look as nice tho.
Anyway, Toshiba gigabeat doesn't seem like a bad option, not too pricey, and I hear fairly good things about it. I was gonna get one but the bidding got too high for me.
Anyway, don't think iRiver is affiliated with microsoft, other than that they use media centre software. There's a whole load of iRiver players, don't think they use that software at-all in them.

2GB isn't a alot of music, and you can get an iRiver for around $200+ or so on ebay and it has 20-40GB.

My brother got an iRiver for his graduation present. Not as thin & sleek as the iPod, but the menus are a lot more interesting, and in color.

I agree with you, the size of an iPod is better, but it still fits in your pocket at the sz an iRiver is - and the iRiver is simple better with the amount of "stuff" it has on it.

iRiver is still Microsoft. But scince it does support more file types, you'll be able get higher quality music and stuff like that. iRiver is flexible. Also iTunes is the biggest pain in the ass to use.

iRiver is still Microsoft.
iRiver is a company who make portable media players, they are in no way owned by Microsoft.
I can just say that you buy the name Sony, Apple or Microsoft if you choose one of their players.
I don't think MS make players... but yeah, people mainly get ipods because of the name, as there are better players available for the same or less money.
Because of that i got my self a little MP3-Stick with 1GB Memory.
Yeah I used one of those for a while, it's fine if you just want a few albums with you at a time. I use my iriver for portable storage too though.
And every thing that works with a HDD is very easy to break, HDD-crash ahoy.
Well not that easy... my iriver is pretty sturdy. It's had some pretty nasty falls, once it fell out of my pocket on to the road while I was cycling, but it was fine - it was still playing when I lifted it.
