Wll, after reeading what you wrote Glenn, it seems your going with Simpsons yes?
Well done mate, Simpsons have been around longer, everyone knows them, more for every age generation instead of adults and everyone who sees it will "lol" at least once.

Not exactly. It depends on where in the numerous seasons of Simpsons you're talking about. After a point, the show just started losing my interest. When a show runs for as many seasons as Simpsons has, even though it's still funny, it starts to lose some of its novelty and originality.

Family Guy is sort of hit and miss. There are some episodes that are hilarious and some episodes that are just stupid. There are some jokes that are really obvious, and there are other jokes that you won't get unless you can recognize what person/show/group/whatever they're satirizing.
Whereas, normally, Simpsons is easy to get and not so hit-and-miss with the comedy factor (not that Family Guy is really irregular, just that Simpsons hits hilarity more often overall).
That said, I prefer the older seasons of Simpsons to Family Guy, but I prefer Family Guy to the newer seasons of Simpsons.
You of all people should have noticed this Glenn.
Simpsons has two levels on humour. It has the humour you half at no matter your age - (itchy and scratchy, Homer's lust for food, etc.) and then there's the humour you get depending on the topic. Such as Shakespearean humour, political humour, book humour, movie humour, etc. (depending on what topic they're making fun of.) - Ex/ anyone see the Raven episode and actually read it? It's much more funny if you've seen the real thing as well.

I do agree with the seasonal thing, although I havn't lost any interest in it yet. Probably because I can only watch it on Channel 4, which show old seasons more often than new.
The newer Simpsons is alot more random. It seems the producers are runningout of unique things to do with the flexible franchise. That said, the randomnisity is still very entertaining, if not slightly embarrasing to watch at times.

Lol no it's in the first Treehouse Of Horror also known as The Simpsons Halloween Special, when Lisa and Bart are reading stories scary to eachother and Lisa reads "The Raven" by Edgar Allen Poe. And the animation is shown with Simpsons characters in the place of the characters in the poem, Homer as the un-named man, Marge as his lost love (Lenore was it?) and Bart as the raven.
I quote:
Bart: Lisa, that wasn't scary. Not even for a poem.
Lisa: Well it was written in 1845. Maybe people were easier to
scare back then.

Ah I know that one. I know a fair few episodes of The Simpsons so I know what a Halloween Special is
I thought it was the episode "Weekend At Burnsies" [one I mentioned previously] because raven and crows try to peck out Homers eyes.
thats why he gets given Medicinal Weed

Hm yea, maybe he was talking about that one... Though I'm pretty sure he meant the one I mentioned, because he asked if we've read it, which made me think it would be the poem.

Ah, yes, the Raven episode was funny. I can vaguely remember the part I loled at most:
Narrator: Quothed the Raven...
Bart (interrupting story): Eat my shorts!
Lisa: Bart!

I quote(not the funniest one but...):
Marge: For an alien race, they really like to rub it in.
