GCSEs, a bunch of exams you take when you're around 15-16 in England, for anyone who doesn't know.

So who else is about to start the three week onslaught of exams? I've a whole LOT of art work to do and important revision for English and R.E to do.

Nope, just uni exams for me :p

I have three next week, including one on my birthday, one the day before and one the day after .

Then another 3 and I'm done.

Although I think the most I need on any of the exams to pass the year is 26% or something, and in one case 0%, and these marks don't count torwards the degree, I'm not too worried

GCSEs count for nothing by the end of it if you're going further, really, but that's not the point I guess, good grades mean you know what's going on, and if you don't know what's going on then the next couple of years are gonna be harder, and some top unis such as your home-area of oxford have only GCSEs to differentiate between the good candidates..

I understand GCSEs are only a means to a beginning, to get into 6th form. I'm not too aware of how [i]the[/i] Oxford university is with graphics and computing, so it's unlikely I'll go there.

If only these exams were just an assessment and not a decider as to if I'll get into 6th form.

Currently on track to get:
A in English,
A in English Literature,
B in Geography,
B in Maths,
C in RE (short course),
B in Art (short course),
Both Sciences an E or D,
D in Electronics,
D or just maybe a C in Latin,
maybe a D or C in French,
hopefully a C or above in Russian (I got through the oral amazingly, but my writing will let me down considerably).

Of course all this needs to be revised. It's just I'd like to get a B in Art so I can continue it in the second year.

I need 3 B's and 2 C's to get into 6th form and B's in the maximum of three AS courses I would take in the second year.

Put myself down for Geography, English Literature, Art/Graphics and Computing for A2. Will probably drop Geography in second year...

Any tips you lot who have passed the boundary that is Year 11 would be welcomed with open arms.

Heh, just A2 modules for me - only got 8 this year tho, should be fine.

I've got highers, which are like A-levels I think. Physics and Chemistry left to do, on tuesday and a week on tuesday respectively. Estimated to get

Which is just fine with me

Predicted:
A* for all sciences
B for maths
B/C for English
B/C for Systems and Control
C for ICT (dont ask, we do like one lesson a fortnight and the way they tried to get us to do the coursework was terrible, everyone was entered for shortcourse foundation??)
C for French (really didnt want to take it, but apparently it helps you get into Uni??)
A for Business Studies
A for Geography
C for RE (wtf? why do we take this? Why?)

Sigh.
I'll probably do well in Maths and Science (they make us do "double award", which is 2 grades for the price of 3 exams), then screw up everything else.

I quit RE. It was encroaching on my sanity.
