i cant upload maps !
i always get the same error : Could not create directory.
i try with and without a preview

How large is this file you want to upload?
I think the max is 200KB, but i'm not entirely sure....

how can i upload from FTP ?

it's a problem with the file submission process, but I don't know what it is. It's code I didn't write, but what I know of it is that it uses ftp to create a new directory for a user uploading files for the first time. Something's wrong with the ftp bit. I don't know what though, cause the php settings still suggest it should work, and the script looked allright in the brief look of it I took.

hmm not . useful, I guess that's why whiz removed the $debug bit from those lines... will try to make it more useful tomorrow...

i fail to see what is execiting that 777 permissions is needed. 666 is rerquired to write and create new directoies, unless there is a program running that does thes. but that sounds like its being done in a manner which could be handeled easier.

I'll be dowloading a mod for my fourms that alows my users to attach files to a post. perhaps the answer will lie with in the code there. NOTE that i USE phpBB.

and if admin / webmaster just creates a directory for you it should allow you to upload the files.

Also, if you adjust the registration page to create this directory on sign up, or on account activation that would also solve this problem well, for new users anyway.

Creating the DIR on account registration has its disadvantages, there would be a rather large amount of unused directories, and we would probably have the same problem, seeing as if it doesn't work here it probably won't work there either. I don't think phpBB will create dirs for attachments, so I'm not sure that code will help.
And you may well be right about the permissions, I'm never really completely sure.

well 777 has more permisssions that 666, so it wouldnt cause a problem.

Perhaps a bad suggestion but perhaps change the code of the file submit so it doesn't create directories like that and perhaps delete the maps..again?
