That's sort-of how it works already, if I understand it. With a 56k user DJing, there's a low-speed connection between DJ and Knifa's radio server. Listeners just connect to the radio server.

yeh, it wouldn't be make any difference. It is exactly like tundraH says atm. The limit is always the upload speed of the DJing user.

Relaying a radio station isn't very nice...
The server has a 100mbit connection so uh, it uber high speed anyway.

they're saying it's unnecessary, since the DJ connects to the server, then the listeners connect to the server.
The only slow connection is DJ to server.

Okay. So you're saying that it doesn't really matter if the user is using 56k connection, just as long as the user keeps up one long, continuous stream, and basically doesn't do anything but host the radio (and maybe IRC), right?

For dail-up... I do not have that bad of a connection... but I am sure it would not work well for uploading a continuous steam....
My upload speed is slower than my download speed... which is wierd becuase it oughta be the other way around....
Considering where I live, it would be pointless to get "SATALITE INTERNET" which only uploads OR downloads faster... never both. It just costs to much... and I plan on moving out of this hell hole within 6-8 months.
But untill then, please await my DJing skillz

it's just about always that way round. Sometimes they're equal, often depends on the connection type...
The average user only wants to view web pages / download the odd file, maybe stream something to their computer (not away from) For that all you have to send are requests, which don't take up much bandwidth at-all. The other server will do the rest. For watching / listening to streaming media, though, obviously you need a high bandwidth downstream connection.
It's only people who want to host games and stream high-bandwidth content the other way that really need a good upspeed connection...

I've got the worms music (including some remixes), but unless someone tells me that it's alright to host with my 56k connection, it's probably not going to be played. But... I could send it to someone (or you can just go to the SFX clan page and download the remixes for yourself ).

Huh, everything but rap & rnb would be nearly fine.
Worms remixes would be good.

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that the quality of the connection when you're hosting will match what it sounds like when you are a listener. So if you can listen fine, it's worth a try at hosting.

Well, there's just one problem with my listening, is that it starts buffering every few minutes. But usually I'm doing something else at the time, and the buffering is done within 20-30 seconds...

hmm, well the quality of the connection when you're hosting will match the quality of the connection you choose in the options. 24k is the lowest you can go, and it's probably the best you'll be able to do on 56k. If it stops to buffer every few mins on listening it might well do on hosting if you're using IRC, msn, or a web browser

Well, I can't try it on this computer. Maybe let DJ Canada try hosting on the radio to see if it'll work on 56k.
