Look at yours/someone's profile and it says "Spam Rating 0/1000" and I don't know how this system works. I've been posting extremely frequently and I'm a little worried here. Anyone got a clue?

Posting frequently (like I do) isnt spam, but if you psot like "lol" or "hi" or something that is 200% off topic you will get 1spam rating..

I think it goes like this;

Lets say someone with 120 posts posts a spam post like "lol", so they would get 1/120 spam, which is like .83% spam, so .83 % of 1000 is 8.3/1000 spam rating..

I think thats how it goes

What about rating good posts so people get less of a spam rating? If someone starts off spamming and then turns out to be a good member of the forum I think they should deserve to have their spam rating decreased. Although I wouldn't want many people to have this option as people could abuse it and vote for every one of their best friend's posts on the forum. It might be worth while if only admins could rate posts 'good'. (Which I'm sure is the case with rating spammy posts).

Yes, their spam wating will decrease as they post more posts, that's just the way percentages work.

Just for an example:

Fred has 25 posts. He had 6 posts, and his spam rating would be 24%, or 240/1000 spam rating. But, lets say he posts 5 more posts, and they are not spam, so it would be 6 out of 30 spam posts, and that is 20% spam rating, or 200/1000.

It can get to 1 even, but never back to zero. It will always round up.

actually it just rounds, not always up. But yes. You're right apart from that.

I can't see anyone ever getting to 1000. 'Cuz they would be banned from forums before they ever got there.

Yes but you'd have to post 5000 posts to make your spam rating 0.5/1000 even if you only made 1 spammy post. I don't know to how many decimal places it is done to though since I haven't seen anyone with a spam rating. Which is a good sign.
