I have an idea what should help noobs and there questions, as it seems noobs never read the forum rules so maby when new peple sign up they should automaticly be redirected to the forum rules page after signup they then have to agree to the rules and tick the box like in other forums/sites. I hope this will/should cut down the stupid questions and spamming.

I had a very similar idea just two days ago, that every user had to read a set of forum guidelines before they first used the forum, I started it, but didn't quite bother to finish.

Um... no, but I have an idea to MAKE them read it. Of course, I don't know if this is even possible, but how about setting a time delay on that confirmation. Like, say they have to wait 5 minutes before the button will light up that says 'I accept these terms', or whatever. Of course, this probably is impossible, and I feel really stupid for saying it, but oh well, that's life.

That's a very good idea. Or make it so you have to scroll down to read it all in an inner-bevel-type frame in the middle of the page and there's several pages you have to click to get the agree to terms box to light up and also you must actually scroll down in the frame.

Ya. if its like the program agreements, I just click and continue. So perhaps make a test after reading the rules. And u cant get into the forum without passing the test. The test can be like a fill in the blanks of the rules or sumthing

yes Glenn, that was pretty much the exact idea that I had. Well, the first one I had anyway. I also thought that there could be certain phrases important in bold that would have to be copied into some boxes at the bottom of the page, then they can click submit...
In-fact that's pretty much what C1 just said. lol.

Maby they should do what C1 said it's the best idea so far and that will mean they have to read it doesn't it? On glenns you could just wait about a bit then click it.

Put the terms and conditions in bullet points and make them short or no-one will read them.
Add pictures for each thing to illustrate it's message.
Use simple words and not too wordy so it's easier to understand for the less literate.

Yay, my fill in the blanks idea is good But i'd say that they should only have to read the terms of use for the forum if you click on forum. That way u don't have to go through a bunch of stuff if you don't want to join the forum.
Oh btw that User Backup bot is excellent coding and an awesome idea.

I don't like Glenn's idea at all, nobody would be bothered to sign up if you had to wait five minutes (like me). C1's is good though.

Or, Ya could go to the extream of Not letting anymore people Sign up to the site, The spamers Will learn to control their ways and let people in on provisinal Sign-ups and let them say if they are Above a certain user rating. If they are under the predeterminded (Big word) Amount then there are banned from the site.
Good idea?
