I've decided I want a 360. The Wii is too novel (one gathering dust at a friend's house is evidence enough), the PS3 is too expensive and there are so many people I know with Live accounts.

I'd like to know what the best singleplayer game is at the moment. I ask for singleplayer because it's around an extra £130 to get setup with online stuffs (wireless adaptor, router, gold account and USB dongles for networking PCs), so initially I'll just be playing offline.

I'm thinking between Oblivion, Gears of War, Skate or Call of Duty 4 at the moment. Halo 3 doesn't do anything for me from the looks of things, ignoring online multiplay. Any thoughts are appreciated

Get Orange Box. It's 5 games in a box. Totally worth it.

Five? I know there's Ep2, Portal and TF2 but there are 2 more? And aren't Ep2 and Portal relatively short? : P

Portal is good forever.

Orange box includes: Half-Life 2, Half-Life 2: Episode 1, Half-Life 2: Episode 2, Team Fortress 2, and Portal.

Ooh, that's pretty sweet then. That's a contender now too, even if I've already completed HL2 and Ep1 twice each ><

I would get the Orange Box on PC instead, it's cheaper, and there gonna be custom maps for Portal which is gonna make the differance to that game.

While I haven't played, I'd recommended Oblivion if that's your sort of thing, that'll stave you over until you get live.

You may also want to see about just hooking the console up every now and again to download some demos. You can get them with a free, silver account and they'll help to pass the time as well.
