There are several image manipulation programs that have their own good features. If you happen to have/need some information of them, ask/share them here. Of course you can speak about anything else here as long as it has something to do with digital imaging. Tutorials, screenshots, plugins... anything. And there seem to be really talented Photoshoppers and Paintshop PROs here and maybe some Gimpressionists too so I think getting info here won't be a problem. I hope this'll be helpful.

Firstly... I have a question. Anybody know how to create a cool lightning -looking effect? I have The GIMP and Photoshop, but if you know how to do it with other programs, please let me know.

Fireworks MX rules all.

Also depends what you mean by lighting effects? There are many. Many, many...

You can stick a dark layer over the entire image, set a multiply blend mode and simply erase away the parts which you want to appear lit. To soften it up, use the blur tool on the edges of the erased away areas.

For instance:

It's quite subtle in this example (and rather rushed).

Another image with the same technique:

Of course there's the good old burn and dodge tools and block shading using blend modes.

Photoshop rules all.

I think he means lightening effects, which in photoshop (I have CS2) are relatively easy to do but right now I have no time to type as I have rugby.

I'll get back to this thread and post it in a bit.

By lighting I mean the electric discharge that appears between clouds and ground in storms for example.

Can you tell me more about the Fireworks?

Aye, sorry about that, misread it too hastily.

Here's a few tutorials for lightning in Photoshop: http://www.pixel2life.com/tutorials/Adobe_Photoshop/All/?ba=4&a=7&c=1&f=15&c=1&d=1&ss=lightning

Oh very cool. Thank you very much!

Has anyone heard of a program called Pivot Stickfigure Animator? I just tried it and it's wicked funny. These are my first creations and since I'm an eager capoeirista...

Good, do that. It's 484 kb and can be downloaded here.
Have fun, it's easy with that.
