Hey i recently made a bad ass map.. however it wont load into WA says Invalid Palette im map... Its a .png map 64 colours 8bit.. correct height and width.. ive tried all sorts of things and i thought i would ask you for some ideas or maybe i can send you the file.. (its a photoshop file) and you can tell me wahts wrong with it so i can change it.. i have never made color maps before only B&W ones.. back before you could make color ones :P anywho lemme know :P

in photoshop to make a valid color png map you create the map then go to image/mode/indexed
and use that with a maximum of 96 colors and then save it as a png and you should be fine without interlacing

Apropos, when creating a png map, should I fill the transparent areas with black or should I make them transparent?

The easiest way I find is to first limit the number of colours used, using your favorite imaging software, then save it in your user/import folder, as either .bmp, .jpg or .tga.

Now I load WA, and enter the in-game map editor. I click the little floppy disc icon, and load the map. You can then save it as a png from there.

If there are too many colours, it'll reduce it in a really horrible way, so use something like photoshop/fireworks instead.

You can also remove any colour and save it as a .bit map.

convert ur map to 256 colours, save it as bmp to /users/import foldier. then open it in W:A (go to multiplayer menu, right click the image, click the disc image and load your xxx.bmp file) that should do it ^^
