This could work in many ways. There could be a traditional odds betting system (5-1 against or whatever), or just get a set amount of money if you guess right. It would be an interesting way for new members (like myself) and seniors to win and lose money.

Of course, there's have to be a new system to tell betters about the outcome. PMs? A subforum?

One of the drawbacks would be deciding the odds for each match, but that could probably be arranged...

Simple problem with fictoleague: It's a popularity contest.

If it wasn't a popularity contest, and people actually voted for who they believed to win because they saw that person's skills on wormnet or the like, then it would work.

Betting? On fictoleague? Where the outcome of a match is decided by anyone who feels like clicking a radial button and then submitting it? And you want to bet on it?

You want to bet on something where you can pick the winner? THINK!

Anyway, betting on league games is a pretty good idea. The standing does not decide much - in Worms, luck matters just a much as skill, so one with 10 wins could beat one with 60 wins because the latter made a few mistakes, and thus bring the people who bet on him a load of money. The downsides are: even when people bid on a winner for a future match, it's not guaranteed to happen, and the league is not that active anymore.

It was never active - it's an interesting idea..but really not worth the effort imo..

ahh but C1, we have an idea to make it active for a little while.
