Now that I've done my good deed for the day, in other news, Firefox has reached it's 100000000th download recently.

Hopefully the company they're disputing the name with, who has a stockmarket value of just £3.2 million, can be settled with a nice big sum of money from the giant that is google, worth £31.1 billion.
It'd be very silly to disagree on the sum of money when users like the short "@gmail.com" and have gotten used to calling it GMail.
It's not just England, there's a dispute in Germany too.

I don't really see how any other company would gain anything by trying to hang onto the GMail name, they might as well just run with a nice settlement payment.

and existing accounts will be able to use either domain for now.
Thank god for that. I would hate to have to use "@googlemail.com"

I'm not really bothered with so long as my email address doesn't change.
I hear that, I've had this email for ages and I wanna keep it that way.

It's only for the Uk gmail users. You don't apply. Unless I'm misunderstanding something here.

The ability to totally screw Google over perhaps?
Plus, if Google really wanted to take them to court, there's always the possibility that the small company will win.

London-based Independent International Investment Research says it started using the Gmail name for a web-mail application two years before Google.
Which is probably true and the reason why they will win this dispute.
I dont like the name googlemail. The London-based Independant International Investment Research....LIIIR can go to hell. Who uses it anyway?
