Do not attempt to embarass me for I am already emabrassed, do not attempt to make fun of me for wasting money because I didn't pay for it and I have the reciept. But, my top of the line quality webcam records and gives filesizes fucking unbearable. I can record a 10 second video at 1 FPS! And it will come out to be 7mb. But alas, I found this special option which compresses my videos for me, but I don't know much about video compression and codecs. I don't even know what the file ext for a codec even is.
Spoiler (Click to Expand)
How do I open that option? I'm a noob with webcams, btw, the webcam is a Dynex. And please attempt to help me instead of making a random comment. I've messed with settings for hours straight and nothing really changed.

you need a different video recorder, ideally you want one that will encode in MPEG4, which is pretty good for the sort of thing you want.

My digital camera is Canon. It's really high quality. Check out their site and see what you come up with.

Virtual Dub I'll bear in mind. But I can't really play with the compression box since it's DISABLED!

It's normal for uncompressed video to be huge. I record a 3 minute segment using my TV card and it will be a 5 gigabyte .avi
Then I remove the frames I don't want with VirtualDubMod.
Then I compress it to .mpg with TMPGEnc or to .wmv with Windows Movie Maker.

I just don't want my friends bitching about what is so obvious. I have no clue how to apply codecs to a webcam.
