(Non-IE Browsers only)
1. Go here
2. Notice how the page is chopped off under the rightbar.
3. Click Enable Scroll
4. Use Scrollbar
Is this satsfactory to implement site-wide?

It's nice but it has a bit of a problem. When you click the scrollbar at the bottom and move it to the right a bit, a regular scrollbar appears under it. It's just a bit annoying.
And, since you say non-IE users, is it safe to say that this won't work in IE?
You'd think it'd just be easier to physically stretch the page out rather than make a hard-coded scrollbar...

if its used site wide, it could quickly get very annoying.
Its just as bas as a regular bar at the bottom. and yes, it does what glenn said.

this is not the way to fix the problem, it's like putting a cup under a drip instead of fixing the roof.
I would attempt to fix myself, but i wouldnt know how to undo the scroll stuff. =/

Yes, it would be good if the browser scroll bar didn't appear. I'm not entirely botherd about that, really. It doesn't "make the page really messed up"
Perhaps making this optional, for now?

I have to agree with ReadMe, it's not the way to solve the problem. If you're gonna do something like that you might as well have frames on the site...
I say make it so every post is a seperate div or table, and then that post only stretches itself, like on vbulletin. If someone makes their post too wide then it's their problem if people can't read it, and it shouldn't affect other things on the page too much.

Or, you could use CSS to scale the image and turn it into a hyperlink to the full sized image.
Spoiler (Click to Expand)
See? Broken in a spoiler.
If it's a in a spoiler people can expand to test, but as it is parts of posts are unreadable.
Edit: DO NOT PUT THAT IMAGE INTO A SPOILER! Instead, if you are using a custom css design, insert this into the end:
div.figure{
width: 100%;
}
img.scaled{
width: 100%;
}
I declared the tags with the appropriate classes, so it will work. The image will be scaled to fit within the forum table. Of course, this does have it's drawbacks. You can't use spoilers since it's HTML, and ONLY images that are too big for the forum table should be declared like this. Also, you MUST have your web browser maximized length wise for it to not get cut off. So really, this is an excercise in futility. You can click on the image to see the full sized version.

Of course it's not only images that can stretch the page.

Spoilers can't contain HTML ReadMe. That's why I left it out. If you want proof, open the spoiler, the code is broken.
Of course it's not only images that can stretch the page.
Then we would have to set up everyone under their own div for posts, unless an alternate solution (ex: actually stretching the page) can be found. Or, we could implement the img idea (of course, diving every post would probably be easier), and force a return after a certain number of consecutive characters.

i agree with bloopy.. I'd rather see an iframe used then that. I use firefox and it was all messed up looking. not to mention the bases under which it works is a little off.
And what happens if someone uses IE.... wait, i'll test that later.
I thionk site wide It would be bothersome at best/ And just going with the current lay out is better.
