The ability to lock your thread would either keep it from going offtopic(which almost all threads end up doing) or keeping yourself from getting flamed by an pointless or uncommon post.

I think it's a pretty good suggestion. Mind you, admins should have the choice to lock it perhaps only because they can make the decision if it needs to be locked or not.
Why not just PM an admin to lock it for you?

Remember C1? They're too many admins . I thought there already was a lock-your-own-thread feature . I did it on Bloopy's forum before torso's came o_O. Maybe I deleted it :-/

Nah, some people might lock their threads before the discussion has ended or gone off topic. Maybe only if you have a rating >= 15?

But then no-one will know what the thread was about. what if the thread was about something really important then some spammer or such makes the user "delete" the thread. important info lost...

No i don't think so. I think it remembers the posts, but it just doesn't have a thread to put them in.

But technically we can lock our own threads already.
By typing 'Locked' at the end of a post.
Note: I'm indicating I wanna lock this thread

see what i mean...stupid people just test your temper by doing something like sargetron just did...so i dont really think RunT's idea would work to a full extent.

I don't really think users should be able to lock their own threads. There is one exception though, I wish users could lock their own threads in BlameTheJudges. That'd keep the post whoring that occurs AFTER a poll is completed down. Otherwise, just PM a user-admin (preferably myself, C1, or Pio), and we'll get it closed for you, if we deem it neccessary.
