BTP uses pounds (ﾃつ｣) brittish pounds at that.

If you buy something in britain you must pay VAT at 17.5% on it, so you now must paye this on auctions as well - otherwise what was in it for us in making and maintaining the system?

So just a heads up - you'll get 17.5% less winnings than you might expect.

EDIT: ok, changed my mind a bit - this isn't really VAT - it's mroe like a handlign charge so i've gone for the old bookmakers tax of 9%, which isn't actually around anymore...

I like the loto idea, but the lottery seems to be more popular since the auctions started... mabey change the lottery draws to twice a week? So payouts are less and more poeple can win more often?

17.5% wow that is alot... I only pay 7% GST on items I buy in real life, other provinces in Canada have PST included with GST, but that is blanced out with other means. (IE: higher minnium wages).

Just because it is in pounds does not mean we need to follow the exact same tax system...

We need a tax system that WORKS for BTP specifically...

Look at how EBAY takes tax from all sales...

17% tax ??? Argh, money here doesn't need to be exaclty like in real world. :P
That's terrible, where does the 17% money go ? Lotto fund ? 17% is really much, most auctions end under 50 ﾃつ｣.

It's only going so well now because the auctions have just started. In a months time the payouts won't be so high.

I think the 17% tax could just kill the auction system, it's too much, the idea of a lotto fund is good, if the tax goes to it, but 10 % would be much enough, in my opinion.

yes, it just uses the default BTP money functions, which do tax automatically.
