I downloaded the Microsoft Service patch 2, yesterday, and everything is messed up now, on my computer. First it wouldn't restart properly after install, but after I manually shut it down (unplugged it), it worked. Then I try the worms map editor, and it flashes insanely. Making it very difficult to view the map editor. I tried installing direct x, and the patch, but neither work. Any other suggestions?
Edit: Fixed the problem. I uninstalled the service patch.

Luckly I am lazy, and have not even attempted to Download it...

I downloaded and installed the full thing - no problems at all. The slowness of my computer i mentioned in the other thread was caused by the fact that dfrgntfs never defragged my drives properly, and after i defragged it with PerfectDisc everything began to work incredibly fast...

I have a 512k, my brother downloaded it and gave the file to me. After installing the patch, a huge popup appeared "YOUR COMPUTER MAY BE IN DANGER!" I was like "WHAT THE HELL?"
SP2 auto-turned on the windows firewall, that sucked, and still sucks. It's shitty, how Windows detected Norton Internet Security, but still decided to turn on the windows firewall for no reason. Microsoft just can't resist to make "a better firewall than any other firewall". Norton Internet Security pwnz Windows Firewall, and that's it.

I downloaded it, but I'm lazy, so it's not installed yet. I'll first do a partition backup to be sure I can get the OS really back to SP1a. I'll have to deactivate the MS security center, firewall and so on, since I already have a good working one.
266Mb, ouch.

My problem (error number 0x8DDD001 was that the service 'Automatic Updates', even if started, must be set to "automatic"... you can't have it set on manual (this is bs, but whatever). Downloading now . . .

I got my SP2 from microsoft's site. 223 MB. I just can't find a reason to have a huge pop up "YOUR COMPUTER MAY BE IN DANGER". My first impressions of SP2 were rather destructive. A few Multimedia Fusion games stopped working, or kept crashing... computer was slowed down... countless amounts of crap in SP2. I should have kept the uninstall files, but I didn't check the box that gives an uninstaller. I'm stuck on SP2 until next reinstall

With the latest update ZoneAlarm Security Suite has become 100% SP2 compatible, and that's all i needed. I let Security center watch my firewall and Norton, just to keep it busy Now i'm 100% satisfied with SP2....

My computer is running just fine at the moment, so I'm not going to get this patch unless there is something which convinces me that it will make my computer some how bettter.

I installed it today. I disabled the automatic updates service, the security center service, and the firewall (i have Zone alarm you mention XxSpIDerxX).
I also patched registry to unlimited tcp connections. (default : limited). Works fine atm, but needs more testing. Some systray icons disappeared (DSL modem probe)... weird.
