No matter what I do, the voices I make for soundbanks are always too silent. Even if I get right by the microphone. Or have my speakers turned up real high. The program I use is Creative WaveStudio 4.21.07
I save my .WAV files as:
Recording Device: Automatic
Playback Device: Creative SB Live! Series
Default recording format: 44100 Hz 16 Bits Stereo

Maybe your microphone is dying?
Anyway, there should be an option somewhere in your recording program that allows you to increase the volume of the recording. That *should* help, but it's not a definate fix.

Sometimes if you do that it will have like a buzz in the background. Kind of like if you turn ur speakers up when ur computer isn't making any sound, and no my mic isn't dying.

Why not try using the default sound recorder and seeing if that makes any difference?

Try selecting microphone under properties, in the Master Volume control. Then unmute the microphone, turn mic volume up to full and you can hear yourself through your speakers, when you're recording.

These problems were happening when i was at his house to. We had been using my mic and it seems like a pretty cheap one. HEHE... it came with the comp.

My microphone came with the computer, and it works perfectly fine. Like I said, just try using the defualt Windows Sound Recorder.

Cheap microphones don't allow good recordings (wow, nice sentence). So the best you can do is pull high the recording volume control, and then, if necessary, normalize your file, hoping there isn't too much background noise.

The soundbank of my boring voice came out good didn't it? Although it took me forever to normalize all of them.
