a poll provides options, i want to know your beliefs not which of mine is the best.

syc0 suggested to me today the idea of a program that remaps your mouse to work like the arrows, and a click for space.

heres how it would work (my theory, THINK before posting):

while the mouse moved left it would be considered holding left arrow. while the mouse moved right it would be considered holding right arrow. same with up and down. a click is the equivalent of space, and a click of the scroll wheel (or 3rd button) is the equivalent of enter.

this program would have limited use on the ground; you would run out of desk space moving the mouse to make the worm walk for more than about 7 seconds straight. however what about in a roper? roping with the mouse would be easy enough once you got the hang of it. move the mouse diagonally to gain speed by reeling in and swinging at the same time. click to disconnect and again to reattach.

this would allow people who cant press space fast to rope better (test your clicking ability) and might very well end the bad KB excuse. it would be an interesting experience at the least. a key such as the control key would toggle the functionality if you needed to turn it off to use the mouse normally (example: move the screen)

what do you think?

also another program idea, one for hosts that allows them to disconnect from any player they want ingame and thus effectively boot them. this would be very useful to kick the occasionally asshole lamer who joins to mess your game up, and remove the stubborn noob from the roper, but it would be overused imo and many people might never get a chance to play if the host had the power to boot anyone he wanted ingame.

what do you think on that?

ok, the mouse thing idea is really cool. 'cept for 1 problem. what if you didn't have a scroll wheel or a middle button? what if you were useing a mouse that you just move the ball to make it move? (but then it's the assholes fault for buying one)

the boot thing kicks ass! (literaly and figutarily)

the boot thing would be ok i guess, any mad booters would find not many people joined their games any more

as for the mouse thing... well it sounds good but I know I'm too used to the normal keys to change

as for the booting thing, it certainly has great advantages, because it will eliminate situations where it goes like

silly person) yes
*RR starts*
*silly person teleports to random spot in the level*

and I'm not even mentioning ppl who just want to behave like a complete arse during the game (there are those mentally impaired...)

But I think it may be good to implement a voting thing in it, so it's not just the host that decides (if possible), to avoid having ppl booted, cause the host didn't like losing.

hey ive reporogrammed (using my mouse software .. hahaha)my mouse so that the mouse wheel button acts like a space bar,, its kinda pointless other then it allows you to right clikc quiickly and scan the map really fast by panning the window through the scene
its kinda cool and ive gotten used too it, but the middle mouse button click far more slowly then a fast spacebar tap

anyways if its possible to detect if your on the rope through some other program, you could toggle the mouse acting as arrow keys on and off, or maybe just toggle it using a keyboard shortcut ie "ctrl-t"

would this sort of program work with a joystick too? not that i have one, but i think that would work well with this sort of thing.

i might also try mapping the spacebar onto my scroll wheel, but first i need a new CD drive >.<
