There must be certain conditions for locking a thread, not because a mod feels like it (I could state several instances of this occuring on these forums). There should be a feasible reason but I can't give examples right now because uh can't think.

I can think of several reasons:

Flame war
Spamming (as in goes on for more than 1 1/2 pages)
Post Whoring (similar to spam, but it still stays on topic. An example is Abd's slap the user thread)
Inappropriate content (pron, etc)

Porn id assume theyd delete it ASAP and ban the user for X amount of time.

Oh nameless, you don't know how many people were banned and the reasons why. Even before my time here there was probably a high amount of insane users on BTP.

Well the problem in this instance is that 95 percent of the time it's some nitwit with nothing of value to add to the conversation bumps it up after 2 months only to say, "I agree" I don't think threads should be locked after so many days of inactivity, but post a sticky on reviving old threads if it becomes a problem. Automotiveforums enforces this, first time, it's a warning, second, suspension, third time, ban. That should get it through anybody's head in a hurry, basically just descriminate between trolling and valid posts.

1) Because it's part of the £==+ speaker's vocabulary (and it sparked from someone typing too fast).
2) Amazingly enough, people don't know what it is .

I knew it is l337, but just to use it in the middle of a sentence out of nowhere is unexpected..

People are using "pron" all the time in their regular speech in place of "porn" (or "pornographic images"). Personally, this is one fad that will not catch on with myself, and I will continue to use the actual word, "porn."
