I agree with you, the reward of social user (or social+ user) just encourages people to post mindless crap, like this thread has 10 pages from c1 asking what the new statuses were, it is ridiculous. Down with socialism! :)

Well, you've got to have some sort of incentive to visit the forum. All forums have it. Whether it be custom statuses, special privelages, or even special files, there's always something to keep people posting once they've arrived. So, I believe that the social user rating is justified.
