THE FOUR TOWERS
Twenty years ago on the planet Jade, a legendary battle was fought for the capture of the stronghold of Quadra Faraz. It was a gruesome battle with many casualties on both the light Astantines, who occupied Quadra Faraz, and the dark Tungstens, who wanted to rule it. Not long before this battle, a Tungsten spy was ordered to recon and relay information about the stronghold. During his operation, he was able to sneak into the throne room, where he found an astonishing discovery. The Astantines were very skilled in magic because of a superpowerful orb, the Eye of Cyrus. The spy was detected however, but was able to retreat. He quickly told the Tungsten leader, Arch, about this. Immediatly, Arch ordered up all of his available soldiers, snipers, wizards and artillery for an immediate assault on Quadra Faraz. The Astantines were also on high alert now because a Tungsten spy had found the Eye of Cyrus. They must be able to defend an attack against the stronghold and defend the orb at all costs.
Several hours later, the Tungsten army was spotted by an Astantine lookout and all the defenders went to their posts. Arch and his second in command, Java, placed the artillery ahead and gave the order to fire. Many cannonballs were hurled at the battlements of Quadra Faraz. The Astantines fought back with some cannonballs of their own, but they were just too weak and could not reach the Tungsten artillery. The attacker's cannons were far more sophisticated from the defender's. After a little while, the battlements collapsed and the front gate was bashed down by a cannonball. Arch then gave the order for his soldiers and wizards to head forward and attack the insides of Quadra Faraz and secure the Eye of Cyrus. Several attackers were killed by Astantine archers, but they were able to climb over the collapsed battlements and attack the insides.
Tried as they did, the Tungsten soldiers overpowered the Astantine ones. Whenever there was a large barred gate, a wizard would simply wave his wand and burn it down. The Astatine leader was getting desperate and summoned upon the Eye of Cyrus to grant him legendary powers to drive off the attackers. However, when he was powering up, a squad of Tungsten soldiers burst through the door. The leader tried to blast them to kingdom come, but his power was not yet full and instead caused a malfunction which resulted in his own death. These soldiers had secured the Eye of Cyrus and the Astatine leader was no more. Word had spread throughout the Tungsten soldiers and Arch was informed. However, when he marched forward to collect the Eye of Cyrus, he was shot by a surviving Astatine sniper. Arch died, but Java snuck in and claimed the Eye of Cyrus for himself. Many archers and snipers were captured by the Tungstens and put into slavery. However, a large group of Astatines were able to sneak out and run away from the stronghold and the battlefield.
Java ordered the immediate reconstruction of the ruined Quadra Faraz, now under Tungsten rule. Over the years, Quadra Faraz was completely rebuilt and redecorated to serve the dark nature of the Tungsten Empire. However, Java still felt this was not complete. Strong as he was, he had a cowardly side. He ordered pockets of his troops to four locations of the world to build individual fortresses to house a portion of magical shield energy to protect Quadra Faraz. These four fortresses became known as the Star Temples. Within the deepest point of the temples, there is a device which constantly feeds magical energy to Quadra Faraz's shield. However, should all four devices be destroyed, the shield would deactivate, leaving Quadra Faraz to defend itself the old fashioned way. The troops inside the four Star Temples became devoted to the location where they were, and certain ones earned magical powers.
Meanwhile, the group of Astatines who managed to escape built a small stockade in the forest. The Tungstens did not know at all of their existance for they presumed they got everyone during the seige of Quadra Faraz. They now decided to call themselves the Jade Rebellion, to protect the planet Jade from Tungsten rule. They could do little however to attack Quadra Faraz because of the magic shield which protected it. However, a Tungsten traitor fled from the stronghold and found the hideout of the Jade Rebellion by dumb luck. There, he explained to them the four Star Temples and their relevance. Over the years, the Jade Rebellion got stronger and many of their men had gotten magical powers. They now felt it was time to overthrow the Tungsten Empire once and for all.
There were four Star Temples: Heat (build beside a volcano), Chill (built on a giant iceberg), Whacko (built in the zone of Jade where magic is not normal (imagine magic meets marijuana =D )) and Darkness (built inside a massive cave dug by Tungsten soldiers). Inside three of the four temples, the devices also created strong guardians to protect them in case anyone did break through. There arose a leader from the Jade Rebellion, and it was his duty to destroy the four devices in the Star Temples and reclaim Quadra Faraz as their own.
